In order for you to use the Standard Business Letter Template, you’ll need to know the name, company name and address of the person you are addressing. Start by inserting your name and your company’s address on the first two lines. Then, enter the recipient’s name, title, and company address on the next two lines. If you do not have this information, delete it from the letter. After this, enter the salutation. For a business letter, Dear Mr. or Mrs. Last Name is acceptable. For a formal letter, such as this one, do not address the recipient by his or her first name.
The next several paragraphs can be adjusted to fit your needs. Feel free to add or delete paragraphs as needed. Keep in mind, however, that there should be a blank line between each paragraph. At the end of the letter, enter in a closing, such as “Sincerely” or “Thank you” on the Closing line. Beneath that, enter your name and your company’s address. In a less formal letter, it is often a good idea to include other contact information such as a phone number or e-mail address.
