How to Use the Personal Expenses Calculator
The link at the bottom of this page will allow you to download and use the free template.
When you have the document open, go to the “Category Setup” tab at the bottom of your screen. This section just helps you create useful drop-down menus based on your common expenses in the rest of the template.
When you finish creating expense categories, go to the “Expense Log” to actually start filling this information out for the month.
When you pay for anything, just enter the current date, category, subcategory, amount, and any notes you have about the expense in the last column of the template.
At the end of each month, you can review this information by going to the “Dashboard” tab below. This section lists out all your categories and tells you how much of your money is going into each one. From there, you can work out a budget that works for you and your family.
