About the Microsoft Personal Expense Calculator
The Microsoft personal expense calculator template is set up with three tabs. First, click on the tab titled “Category Setup”. Here is where you will set up all your main financial categories, such as housing, transportation, daily expenditures and fun.
Next, you will add subcategories to the personal expense calculator. For example, under “Housing”, some subcategories you can add include:

You will repeat the process of adding subcategories to each main category until all of your expenses are listed. As designed, the template allows for seven main categories and an unlimited number of subcategories.
